The device is very characteristic for its pop-up screen (like a Nokia slide-up phone). It should be able to run without the cover, all it does is turn off the screen when closed.
Device takes a single CR2032 battery.
Device has a touch screen, which is fundamental for the gameplay. A non-working touchscreen will break all the gameplay.
Originally, the device comes with two styluses, one as a replacement. These attach to the lanyard. If you don't have a stylus, a 3DS/DS stylus should be good too, just don't make much pressure on the touch screen.
Device automatically saves the progress every now and then.
Screen is grayscale, with 4 shades of gray.
In the case the cover falls out, or pops out, it can be reattached again. Just be careful about it.
